It is the responsibility of competitors and teachers to follow the Rules & Regulations of the Festival. Entries are the responsibility of competitors and teachers. Errors or omissions are not the responsibility of the Festival. All disciplines run at the discretion of the Festival, dependent on sufficient entries. 1. We regret that special lighting is not possible.
2. Studios are requested to arrange for someone to play competitors’ music. Please label music with the competitor’s name and any specific instructions. The Festival will supply sound equipment, CD player.
3. Time limit for dancers is 3 minutes maximum for solos, 5 minutes maximum for duos and trios and 10 minutes maximum for groups and production numbers.
4. Stage will be marked for centre and quarter points. No other markings are permitted.
5. The same competitor may not enter first place entries in our previous festivals again.
6. Any dancer who leaves the stage during a performance shall be allowed one re-start for adjudication only. If the competitor is not at fault ie. failure of music or lighting, etc. the repeat performance will be adjudicated and marked as usual.
7. Trio and group, class age is determined by adding all ages together and dividing by the number in the group.
8. Duos are entered by the age of the older competitor.
9. Duos, trios, and groups are to be submitted on one entry form, with all names and ages listed and accompanied by the full entry fee. Only one member needs to do the online registration and list the other dancers, in the appropriate section. It is important not to list the original entrant as an additional dancer as well so you aren’t charged more, or put into the wrong class.
10. NON-COMPETITIVE – This replaces Recreational and Novice, for those dancers with limited training or experience - Adjudication Only, no placements will be awarded.
11. Small Group: 4 to 8 dancers, a Large Group: 9 to 15 dancers and an Extra Large Group: 16 or more dancers.
12. No person may compete in 2 different entries in the same class. This includes GROUP DANCES.
13. Changes of class are not permitted during the Festival, except at the discretion of the captains.
14. Geographic area rule for Dance section only: Participants must live and train within the geographical boundaries stipulated in the General Rules and Regulations.

MODERN DANCE
Modern Dance: A stylized dance form with a foundation in technically-based disciplines such as Duncan, Graham, Ailey, Horton, etc. Dance that rejects the limitations of classical ballet and which favours movement derived from the expression of inner feeling, free dance, contraction and release, fall and recovery, and dynamism.
Contemporary Interpretive: Free movement of dance encompassing various dance disciplines-a constantly evolving style of movement.
Please enter the above categories as Solo, Duo, Trio, Small Group, Large Group or Extra Large Group.
The Registration Program Will Automatically Create These Groupings:
12 years and under
14 years and under
15 years
16 years and over
Workshop Classes (Ballet and Modern): Open to ALL dancers who meet age requirements. Dancers wishing to qualify for Provincial representation MUST take part. If registering for the workshop please send in $16 only as the late fee does not apply. Late signup in person will be allowed for a $25.00 fee, as long as there is room in the class.
Ages for Classical Workshops are Junior, 10-12 years, Intermediate, 13-15 years and Senior, 16-20 years old.
Dress Code for Workshop Classes
Participant’s grooming is important and will be noted, please dress according to the guidelines set out below. Absolutely no belts, trims, jewellery, leg warmers, etc. are permitted.
Modern – May wear any of the following: bodysuit, tights, close fitting shorts, Capri’s, jazz pants. Close fitting tops. Hair neatly groomed. Kneepads may be worn.
